Fostering Forward Michigan invites community members to “Pitch a Penny,” to raise awareness for the 13,000 children that live in Michigan’s foster care system. May is National Foster Care Awareness month. Supporters are encouraged to meet up and share in the 13,000 pennies that Fostering Forward Michigan will make available for participants to pitch into the fountain. We will be making special wishes that every one of our 13,000 foster children will have a safe, loving and supportive home. Thanks to the generosity of their Community Outreach Program, Greenfield Village has been a popular destination for our foster families over the past year and that makes it the perfect location to hold this special event.
Saturday, May 13th at 10 a.m. at Greenfield Village in Dearborn at the fountain located just outside the entry of the Village.
“Without dedicated foster parents willing to walk alongside kids like me, the system just can't work”, said Rebecca M. a former foster youth. We are striving to train and retain high quality foster parents and advocate for best outcomes for all of the children in the child welfare system. Through direct support and advocacy we can improve children's lives.
